Decisions (read my lips)

So, after much wrestling with the possibilities and pros and cons of what to do and what not to do and what I could probably do and what I'd really like to do...a decision has been made.
Sao Paulo...not the now. Rome...here I come.
That's right. I've chosen Rome ahead of Brazil, for 4 glorious weeks in the summer. I've decided to swap the beaches and bustle of South America for the awesome allure of Italy. It feels amazing!
So, how did I arrive at this decision? Well (if you don't really care, then please skip this bit), truth be known, I've played with the idea of switching destinations for a few weeks now. Partly from a financial standpoint, partly the knock on effect of a very lovely message from G telling me she'd welcome me in Rome in the summer if I chose to switch, promising coffee and pasta and a scooter for transport (yes, no, don't say it, she knows and she says it's not a problem so long as I don't tell the scooter-hire people).
Plus there's the 'I'm a girl' factor. It's feeble, and I should be flogging myself for saying it but I'm (spit) no longer a bad girl (deep drag, exhale) and I was actually a little anxious about soberly spending 2 months plus, entirely on my own, in a far away destination. Of course, I'm still spending a month, entirely on my own (save from G when she's not full up with studying), in a foreign climate, but Rome has something I want right now and it has an appeal for me.
So the conclusion? I may not be the bad girl I once was, but I am still an aimless wanderer. And in the words of Kirsten Dunst in Mona Lisa Smile: "not all those who wander are aimless". Hey, she was going off to Rome, too, when she said that!
To my inner bad girl, I'll never forget you, but I'm just not you anymore.
nb. the red lips are a nod to the summer that I intend to spend drinking potent coffee and posing in (on?) a piazza.

Sadly, not yet... but I have discovered the joys of Basingstoke Library, which has free internet access and CD rental, alongside all of the usual things. Thus, it has become my first port of call of a weekend morning in town!
