Ok, so the liquid diet idea hasn't quite worked, as I've just consumed a bag of diabetic carb-free sweets and now I want to be sick. Such is life, and such is what happens when you have the whole day at home alone recovering from a throat virus, with the nearest shop being a pharmacy - purveyor of food for the fussy/medically challenged eater.

Today I ventured out for two walks - the latter being the unspeakable pharmacy excursion (seriously, I can barely type 'polyols' without wanting to throw up). I checked out some bikinis online and decided that the liquid diet must start tomorrow, last one week (til next Friday as originally intended)and there after I must start having actual breakfast cereal at least once a fortnight. I fear that after all these self-pimped diet efforts, my body will cling to any carbs and therefore I must phase such in very gradually.

What is sorbitol? My boyfriend is a chemistry-boy, maybe I should ask him? In any case, is it something that diabetics are supposed to eat? Can you overdose on sorbitol?

I digress.

So today I've had:
1.5 gram low-carb milkshake
4 peanuts (1/2 a gram)
tuna and mayonaise (1.5 grams)
a bag of diabetic sweets (0 grams)
an Atkins bar (2grams).

Am I neurotic?

Liquid diet begins tonight. I will post everything I consume until 25th May.

Distraction...

Sorbitol: a type of alcohol used as a sweetener in cough syrups, and as a thickener in cosmetics.

Poorly digested by the body, it contains 2.6 calories per gram compared to the average 4 calories per gram of sucrose or starch.

Excessive consumption of sorbitol is really not recommended.
